J. Anderson newspaper photoJoanne B. Anderson, 63, of Braham, Minn., passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013 at GracePointe Crossing West Gables in Cambridge, after a four year courageous struggle with cancer.

Joanne was born Oct. 13, 1949 in Braham, Minn. to parents Robert and Shirley (Beckstrom) Brown. She grew up near Stanchfield and attended Stanchfield and Grasston elementary schools and Braham High School, graduating in 1967. During the summers Joanne would go with her Dad up North selling vegetables all the way to International Falls.

Joanne went to the Red Carpet Beauty School in Minneapolis and became proficient at hair cutting.

In September of 1967, Joanne and Roger Anderson were married and to this union two children were born, Kimberly Joy and Matthew James. They resided near Braham until 1978 when they built their home west of Stanchfield where they lived for 28 years. They then built a home near the “Y” in Braham and live there presently.

Joanne was a stay at home Mom while the children were growing up. Her work experience included Midway Café, Peoples Café, Control Data, Land-O-Lakes, and the United States Postal Service where she was a rural mail carrier for 20 years until her retirement in 2006.

Joanne loved homemaking, bowling, traveling, reading, and going to their summer home near Clear Lake, visiting with the neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Diane Brown.

Joanne is survived by her husband, Roger; children Kim (Brian Baird) of Emmett, Idaho; Matt of Watford City, N.D.; grandchildren, Ashlyn, Katelyn, and Brett; sister Barb (Jerry) Gray of Prior Lake, Minn.; sisters-in-law Karen Hearnen of Fargo, N.D.; Pat (Mike) Just of Rush City, Minn.; brother-in-law, Jack (Kathy) Anderson of Braham, Minn.; also survived by aunts, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Joanne was a wonderful wife, mother and friend. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at the Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Rich Chronis officiating. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home of Braham and 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Music will be provided by Marie Grundberg. Arrangements are by the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home of Braham.
