C-I boys hockey falls to Knights

Cambridge-Isanti boys hockey battled visiting St. Michael-Albertville Jan. 17, but it was the Knights coming away with a 7-4 Mississippi 8 win.

Collin Anderson’s 11th goal of the season had the Bluejackets up 1-0 just one minute into the game. But a C-I five-minute check from behind penalty allowed the Knights to take a 2-1 lead before the first period ended.

STMA raised its lead to 4-1 in the second period, then Veeti Uuttera found the net in the stanza for the Jackets. Jacob Sylvester’s power play goal had the C-I boys within 4-3 early in the third, but again the Knights countered with three straight goals to create a large cushion. Mitch Renstrom got the Jackets’ last goal with three minutes to play. Kurtis Grimm led C-I with two assists, and Nate Muehlberg made 31 saves in relief duty in the nets.

Military Appreciation Night at Jan. 29 game

In conjunction with the Cambridge-Isanti Bluejacket boys hockey varsity game, the Johnson Isanti Civic Ice Arena would like to show appreciation for the area’s military veterans, both active and retired. The local color guard will perform the pregame honors and various local and regional military veteran service organizations will be present, as well.

All are encouraged to come and enjoy the fellowship while supporting the CIHS Bluejacket Boys hockey team for their competition against Pequot Lakes. The JV game starts at 5:15 p.m., and the varsity starts at 7 p.m. All veterans (active, guard/reserve, or retired) with a valid military ID will be admitted free of charge to both games. Cake and coffee will be served. The Isanti Ice Arena is located at 600 1st Ave. N. in Isanti.
