Bluejacket Gymnasts win two meets

In a preview of two contenders in next month’s Section 7AA finals, the Cambridge-Isanti gymnasts got past host St. Francis 136.25 – 134.525 Tuesday evening, Jan. 22.

Sophomore Kaeli Kortan had a fantastic night for the Bluejackets, setting personal-bests on the Vault (9.375), Floor (8.925), Beam (8.8) and in the All-Around total (36.1). Hanna Haight won the Bars with her 9.175, tying her career best on the event.

More key contributions came from Courtney Durant (8.7 Vault, 8.625 Floor), Nicole Morgan (8.4 Floor), and Tori Nelson (8.675 Vault, 8.475 Floor).

The Saints were led by 1st places from Mackenzi Walsh on the Beam (9.275) and Floor (9.125).

C-I 131.1, Buffalo 125.8

• Cambridge-Isanti scored 131.125 points to overcome host Buffalo’s 125.85 to win a Mississippi 8 gymnastics dual Jan. 17. The Bluejackets are now 2-1 in conference duals and 4-1 overall.

Top two Bluejackets on each event were: Vault– Kortan (9.1) and Durant (8.8); Bars– Haight (8.8) and Kortan (8.15); Beam– Morgan (8.45) and Nelson (8.3); Floor– Abby Schlenker (8.0) and Larriane Acre-Kendall (7.95).

• The Bluejackets wrap up the M-8 schedule with a Jan. 24 dual at Monticello. This Saturday, the C-I girls host the annual Bluejacket All-Around individual showcase. Teams represented at the invite are Andover, Blaine, Bloomington Jefferson, Bloomington Kennedy, Breck, Coon Rapids, Forest Lake, Moorhead, Princeton, and Saint Francis.
