Bluejackets Girls sweep back-to-back games

sp_CAWLiljanderWEEKEND SPORTS: Brynn Liljander (left) scored 29 points, and Justine Larson scored 23 to to with 8 rebounds when the Cambridge-Isanti girls basketball team defeated host Tartan 76-66 Jan. 12.

The prior night, the Bluejackets opened the Mississippi 8 season with a 76-53 win at Big Lake. Liljander again led C-I with 26 points and 8 assists. Amanda Hanson scored 17, and Larson added 10 points.

Braham girls’ game postponed

The Jan. 11 Bomber girls basketball game with East Central was postponed & will be made up on a future date.

Cambridge-Isanti Wrestlers 3rd at Kiffmeyers

The Bluejackets went 2-1 at St. Cloud Tech’s Kiffmeyer Duals on Saturday. The team opened with a 67-9 win against the host Tigers, then Albert Lea got past C-I 34-31 in the semis. The Bluejackets finished the day by downing Hastings 30-18 in the 3rd-place match behind falls from Cody Skog (182), Kyle Chromy (220) and Derick Demars (285). Top-ranked St. Michael-Albertville beat Albert Lea handily in the championship bout.
