Volunteers are again ready to help with tax return preparation and filing for low to moderate income families and individuals and for seniors.
This service will be available starting Friday, Feb. 15 in North Branch, and Saturday, Feb. 16 in Cambridge; and continue each Friday (not Good Friday, March 29) and Saturday through the filing deadline in April.
Appointments are required and can be made for Cambridge at the City Center Mall by calling the Senior Activity Center, starting Jan. 15, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The number to call is 763-689-6555.
Appointments are required and can be made for North Branch at the Chisago County Senior Center by calling the Chisago County Senior Center. The number to call is 651-674-8658.
Last year the Princeton location closed because they did not have enough volunteers to staff the site. This year the Mora location has closed because they do not have enough volunteers to staff the site.
Volunteering is a great opportunity to provide a significant amount of service over a fairly short period of time. About four month total counting the time needed for training.
Tax preparers do not need to be accountants or math whizzes. It does help if you are familiar with computers and can pay attention to details. All training, necessary computer equipment and software is provided. There is a great need for this service here, and the clients are amazingly grateful for the help offered to them.
If you would like more information about helping, call Carol Kenfield at 763-552-9229 about the Cambridge location, or Jerry Liedl at 651-674-2034, if you are considering helping in North Branch.
