Contact local legislators to make our children safe

Dear Editor:

Many parents, after Newtown, have been asking themselves how safe are our schools, and is there anything that we can do to help make our schools safer? I have had concerns myself for a while, but probably like many, haven’t said anything. After Dec. 14, I decided it was time.

Keeping our children safe has to be a top priority. Our country as a whole has changed tremendously from when I was in school. Unfortunately, a change in society means a change in ways of keeping our children safe.

After talking to a board member, I learned that the school is trying to make some changes. Of course, changes take money and funding is an issue. Would you please join me in contacting our local legislators to ask them to help our district be able to get funding in order to make needed changes at our schools, thus making them safer for all of our children? The more people who call and put pressure on the legislators, the more likely they are to act.

Here are the local legislators and their contact information.
