Richard Elias Saari
Richard, son of Frank and Johanna Saari was born on March 15, 1925 in Kingston, Minnesota where he attended school and worked on the family farm. He later worked for Great Northern Railroad with his brothers, Bill and Albert.
Richard was united in marriage to Myrtle Russell on May 3, 1952. They first lived in Minneapolis and then moved to Sebeka, Maple Lake and Royalton Township where they farmed and owned a local shop. They had one daughter, Ann Marie.
Richard later married Caecilie Schneider and retired in Coon Rapids, Minnesota.
Richard loved to garden and was a member of the Masons. He was also a veteran of the United States Army.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle; brothers: Oscar Saari, Bill Saari, Gunner Saari, Carl Saari, and Arnold Saari; sisters, Helen Hall and Minnie Linderholm.
Richard is survived by wife, Caecilie Schneider-Saari; daughter, Ann Zur (Tom O’Keefe); grandchildren, Nicole Zur and Ashley Zur; brother, Albert (Mary Lou) Saari; sister, Mildred Schrode; many nieces and nephews; other loving relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Rock-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Braham. Rev. Rich Chronis officiated. Casket Bearers were Thomas Saari, Neil Purdy, Craig Saari, Christopher Hofstedt, Thomas O’Keefe, and Ann Zur. Burial was at the Mission Covenant Cemetery in Braham.
