Michael “Mike” Murdock Murray, passed away on December 21, 2012 at his brother in-law and sister’s (Richard and Janice Furcht) home in Waite Park, Minn. He was 63 years old. Mike was raised in Baudette, Minnesota by his parents, Arthur and Frances Murray and with his siblings, Janice and Thomas. After completing high school, he attended Bemidji State University and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. Mike worked as an Employment Counselor for Pine Technical College and was honored with the Employment Counselor of the Year award from the State of Minnesota. Mike retired from his career in September of 2011.
Mike had a great passion for cooking and gardening. He was generous and enjoyed nothing more than feeding his friends and family. Mike was an avid canner of many vegetables in his garden including cucumbers, beets, salsa and green beans. He was known to donate extra vegetables to the local food shelf. Mike and his daughters Ann and Susan enjoyed Twins Baseball and made it a tradition to go to many games each year.
Much of Mike’s time was spent with his daughter, Ann Murray Haag, her husband Andrew Haag, and their children, Oliver (3) and Emelia (10 mos.) and his daughter, Susan Murray and her boyfriend, Ryan Eaton.
Mike’s daughters would like to thank Todd and Dawn Arlander of Pine Island, Minnesota for opening their home to them over the past year, Richard and Janice Furcht and St. Cloud Hospital Hospice for making Mike comfortable in his last couple of weeks.
