Isanti ATV/Snowmobile Parade
Tuesday, Jan. 1: Isanti’s Annual New Year’s Day Parade will start at 3 p.m., with the line up starting at 2:30 p.m. at the Isanti Middle School. The Parade route will be determined by the Isanti Police Dept. Chili will be served at the Isanti Community Center following the parade. Everyone is invited to join the fun—whether you’re on a machine, watching the parade, or eating chili. The 2012 Isanti Ambassadors will be on hand to help present the trophies. There is no entry fee and no need to pre-register. All ATV’s and snowmobiles are welcome. Call the Isanti Chamber at 763-444-8515 with any questions.
Cambridge Community Blood Drive
Jan. 3 & Jan. 4: An American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held at First Baptist Church in Cambridge on Jan. 3 from 1 to 7 p.m. and Jan. 4 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call Konnie at 763-689-3653 to make an appointment or for more information. A Picture ID or Donor Card is required.
Old Time Christmas Programs
Sunday, Jan. 6: Time Travel has arrived. Now You can step back into the 1880s. Two Christmas ending programs—just like the early settlers in Isanti County would have enjoyed. German language program starts at 2 p.m. (Lesungen und Weinachtsleider—for you true Germans). Candlelight Lessons program starts at 5 p.m. (Celebrate in the kerosene and gas lamplight—help light the real candles on the Christmas tree—Christmas carols you love and remember—and more). Programs offered at Historic St. John’s Lutheran Church of Bradford, 900 Co. Rd. 5 NW (2 1/2 miles west of Isanti).
American Red Cross Blood Drive
Tuesday, Jan. 8: An American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held at the Braham Area High School from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org to make an appointment or for more information. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.
New Plants, Products, & Trends in the Garden
Thursday, Jan. 10: Afree presentation will be held at 7 p.m. at the Isanti County Government Center in Cambridge sponsored by the Isanti County Master Gardeners. The topic will be, “What’s new for your garden in 2013,” and the special speaker will be Kelsey Sparks with the Green Barn Garden Center. Sparks will introduce new annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs and vegetables that you will find in the garden center this year. Learn about new grafted tomatoes, hot new hostas, a thornless rose, exciting new clematis and wisteria vine varieties, and much more. In addition to plants, get a sneak peek at some new products and trends for the garden. New plant insect and disease problems and solutions will also be discussed.
