Still battling early-season injuries on the varsity roster, the Cambridge-Isanti gymnasts placed 4th with 133.45 points at the Dec. 15 St. Cloud Tech Invite. The host Tigers, who finished 3rd in Class AA last season, won their meet with a 147.5 mark.
Morgan Urness, working with an ankle sprain, swung to a 9.05 on the Bars to post the Jackets’ top score at the invite. Tori Nelson returned from her back injury for a career-best 8.9 on the Floor. Nicole Morgan’s 8.65 led C-I on the Vault, and Molly Furlong rang up a team-high 8.5 on the Beam.
Bluejacket depth was provided by: Kayla Hammes (8.45) and Larriane Acre-Kendall (8.4) on the Vault; Hannah Height (8.6) and Furlong (8.55) on the Bars; Nelson (8.4) and Abby Schlenker (8.1) on Beam; and Schlenker (8.4) and Hammes (8.1) on Floor.
• Back on Dec. 8, the C-I girls placed 8th out of 11 squads at the St. Cloud Apollo Invite. Kaeli Kortan placed 4th with a 9.25 on the Bars and added a 9.15 on the Vault. Morgan’s 8.65 and Hammes’ 8.45 on Beam were more Jacket highlights.
