Jumping out with an attacking style, Cambridge-Isanti boys basketball posted its second win of the season with a fun 85-77 victory at rival neighbor Princeton Dec. 18.
The Bluejacket offense showed a strong mix of outside shots with Nate Cox and Aaron Allen hitting from the arc combined with solid inside play from Hunter Vavra, Jake Johnson and Matt Swanson. The C-I boys led by as much as 15 points at 33-18 in the first half after Allen popped a ‘3’ and fed a cutting Vavra twice, along with Colton Banks gliding in for two buckets.
The final numbers showed a balanced Jacket scoring attack: Allen (17 points), Johnson (15), Vavra (13), Swanson (13), Kyle McDonald (11), Cox (10) and Banks (6).
• On Dec. 14, visiting Spring Lake Park defeated C-I 81-66 when the Bluejackets did not shoot well from the arc. Swanson led with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Adding key stats were McDonald (14 points, 3 assists), Johnson (8 points, 8 rebounds), Cox (7 points, 8 rebounds), Allen (8 points) and Vavra (8 points).

St. Cloud Tech 67, C-I Girls 57
The visiting Tigers took a 29-14 lead at the half and kept rolling to defeat the Cambridge-Isanti girls Dec. 15. Brynn Liljander led the Bluejackets with 20 points, and Justin Larson finished with 10 points and 6 rebounds. Paige Muehlhauser added 7 points and 5 rebounds for C-I.
