Marvin was born on Feb. 11, 1927, in Marietta, Minn. to Arnold and Ida Birkholz. After high school, in Bellingham, Minn. he went into the Army serving overseas during WWII. After returning home, he went to work for the Soo Line Railroad as an agent, operator and retired in 1987. A proud member of the Isanti Lions Club before retiring and a member of the American Legion Post 216, Princeton, Minn.
Marvin will lovingly be remembered by his wife Julie, of 51 years of Isanti, children: Daryl (Kris) Birkohlz, Isanti, Minn. Daryn Birkholz, Zimmerman, Minn. Russ Lowthian of Apple Valley, Minn., Lorie (Dan) Furey, Wheeler, Wis., Donald Lowthian, Isanti, Minn., six grand children (Chad, Jacob, Jess, Justin, Jonathon, Amanda), 10 great grand children, numerous nieces and nephews and sister-in-laws, Grace Birkholz and Joan Waldren.
Marvin was proceeded in death by his parents, Arnold and Ida Birkholz, sisters Hazel Loeschke, Hanna Eilers and brothers, Irvin, Luverne and Cliff.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Elim Home, in Princeton. Visiting will be held for one hour prior to service, and then following for immediate family, relatives and friends.
