CIHS Oratorical Contest winners announced

American Legion Commander Clark Swanson presents Cambridge-Isanti High School oratorical contest winner Kara Sundvall with a $150 scholarship, while Mason Palmer receives a $100 award and Stuart Kurczyk receives a $50 award (far left).

The American Legion Howard McCarty Post 290 recently announced that Kara Sundvall was the winner of the 2013 Cambridge-Isanti High School Oratorical Contest sponsored by the post. Sundvall received a $150 scholarship award for winning the contest.

Placing second and winning $100 was Mason Palmer with Stuart Kurczyk taking third place and winning $50.

All the contestants gave a speech on the Constitution of the United States with major emphasis on the duties and obligations of each citizen.

The annual American Legion Oratorical Contest was held at Cambridge-Isanti High School on Tuesday, Dec. 4. Post 290 Americanism Chairman Bob Theis judged the contest for the Cambridge Post.
