With the launching of Rum River Regional Stage Arts, a non-profit theatrical organization, this first project will present this heartwarming family classic of “A Christmas Carol.”
This song-filled adaptation of Dickens’ classic tale reawakens the true spirit of Christmas in a heart-stirring Carol of profound joy and redemption. It plays in the spacious Northern Lights Ballroom Dinner Theatre on the weekends of Dec. 14, 15, 16 and 21, 22 and 23. Friday and Saturday evening performances are at 6:30 p.m. and Sundays are at 12:30 p.m.
Under the direction of David and Cheryl Braddock of Giant Step Theatre “A Christmas Carol” tells the tale of the stingy old miser, Ebenezer Scrooge, who is visited by the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come hoping to change his destiny and save his humanity.
This delightful adaptation with a cast of local resident actors including; Tiny Tim (McKenna Whitney of North Branch), Jacob Marley/Bob Cratchit (Ian Holmes now from Princeton, an award winning English Actor) and Manuel Mendiola of Zimmerman, who plays the hearty laughing Spirit of Christmas Present, they are just a few of the 32 member cast from around the Rum River area. The story follows Scrooge through a series of strange and magical journeys, where he ultimately discovers the true spirit of the holiday season.
