Nationally known recording artist Michael Russell O’Brien will return to Isanti County at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15.
He will give a special concert at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church at 207 Co. Rd. 23 in Isanti. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
O’Brien has just released his new album “Let It Snow” to add to his earlier hits on “Merry Christmas” with old favorites. He is best known for his rendition of “Here I am, Lord,” “Hail Mary/Gentle Woman,” “The Our Father,” and “Prayer of St. Francis.” In the 1990s, O’Brien was a rock recording artist for Oceana/BMG with hits such as “The Morning After” and “Why.”
“I was a non-practicing Catholic then when my life turned around after a pilgrimage to Medjugorje,” O’Brien said. He was given a written message from Vicka, one of six visionaries there, that asked him to use his talents to bring people back to the faith.
The artist said that after he returned from Yugoslavia he took the message to heart and recorded an album titled “Sounds of Medjugorje.” Since then, he has performed at 80 religious concerts and at 600 city events and has released several more albums.
