East Central Regional Library presents a Scandinavian Dance demonstration and workshop led by Swedish National Folk Musician and Dance instructor Leif Alpsjo and dance instructor Mary Hegge.
This program features a folk dancer from Sweden, Leif Alpsjo, who, together with a dance instructor from the Twin Cities, Mary Hegge, will demonstrate the Swedish style of dancing the polka, schottische, and waltz and then will engage the audience to participate. Of particular interest will be demonstration and instruction for dancing the polska, the national Scandinavian dance that has many regional variations.
Providing music for the event in a group called Tjernblom. Their instruments are nyckelharpa, octave mandolin and harmonium.
The Scandinavian Dance program will take place at Wyanett Town Hall on Monday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. Wyanett Town Hall is located at 34894 Nacre Street NW, Princeton. This is about halfway between Cambridge and Princeton.
All are welcome and no tickets are necessary. This program is fund in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage fund.
