George was born Dec. 24, 1917, in Isanti, Minn., to Henry and Margaret Boettcher. He graduated from Cambridge High School and went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota. On Aug. 23, 1941, George married Joyce House in Spencer Brook, Minnesota, and had two children James and Mary Lee. George started his farming career at an early age on his grandparents’ farm in Spencer Brook Township where he raised his family. His grandson Kelly still lives on that farm with his family. In 1969 George and Joyce moved to Princeton where he and Francis Knippling owned and operated Pine-Mor-Realty. In his later years George enjoyed auctions, restoring John Deere tractors, and raising squash and selling them at the Princeton Farmers Market.
He is survived by wife Joyce of 71 years, daughter Mary Hoeft (Ted Travica), Princeton, five grandsons – Todd (Beth) Boettcher, Nebraska, Kelly (Ione) Boettcher, Princeton, Donald (Amy) Boettcher, Duluth, Chad (Kim) Hoeft Princeton, Dan (Heather) Hoeft, Perham, 12 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jim and Mae House, Osseo. He was preceded in death by parents, son Jim and son-in-law Harvey.
Per George’s request, a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
