Year-round education programs

Mark Ziebarth, Principal
Isanti Intermediate School/School for All Seasons

Cambridge-Isanti Public Schools is one of only a handful of school districts that provide alternative calendar programs for students as an optional program.

Since the program is a public school there is not cost for the program. These programs have been in existence since the 1990s and focus on using the seasons of the year to increase experiential learning and build community.

The calendar allows for shorter summer breaks to be replaced by other breaks of 1-3 weeks throughout the year. Currently Cambridge-Isanti has a K-5 program called “School For All Seasons” that is housed at the Isanti Intermediate School site with an enrollment of 210 students and a grades 6-8 program called “Minnesota Center” housed at the Isanti Middle School site with an enrollment of 100 students.

The program is an optional program that parents may select for their children free of charge. The curriculum, standards, and instruction are similar to that of the other schools in the school district but are delivered in different ways. The experiential learning component emphasis and the community-building emphasis of the programs are areas that are different in comparison to the traditional calendar programs.

Currently a task force has been established to look at future growth and how the program may best meet the needs of the 21st Century student.
