Jackets head to 7AA swim & dive finals

The Cambridge-Isanti girls swim & dive squad is the final high school team in the county still competing this 2012 autumn season. The Bluejackets have been tapering and fine-tuning to ready themselves for this weekend’s Section 7AA meet.

Swim prelims will be 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 in the Northdale Middle School pool in Coon Rapids. Diving takes place at 6 p.m. Nov. 9, then the 7AA finals will be back at Northdale MS starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10.

Forest Lake is the defending section champion. Andover and Duluth East are also among the top contenders.

Bluejacket divers Hannah Thiry and Maria Leibel will be among the top competitors off the board. Thiry was 8th and Leibel 9th last year at sections. C-I’s Ashley Hiljus (Backstroke) and Paige Thomas (Breaststroke) also are returners who placed in the top-10 last year at sections.

CIMPC Girls Hockey opens action Nov. 10

The Cambridge-Isanti-Mora-Pine City girls hockey squad kicks off the 2013 winter season with a home game against Duluth Denfeld Saturday, Nov. 10 (3 p.m.) at the Isanti Johnson Arena.

The Bluejackets will also host a home game on Tuesday, Nov. 13 (7 p.m.) with Sartell coming to town. CIMPC then hits the road for a Nov. 16 game at Simley (7:30 p.m.).
