Bomber Volleyball advances in 5A tourney

In the 5A East Subsection quarterfinals Oct. 26, No. 1 seed Braham made quick work dispatching No. 5 Barnum in three games at home: 25-15, 25-11, 25-15. The win gets Braham (17-4) another home match for the subsection semifinals when they host No. 2 seed McGregor (14-9) on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m.

Also alive in the 5A East are defending section champ Nevis (21-8) vs. Onamia (17-9). Winners from Tuesday’s matches will meet in the East subsection finals Thursday, Nov. 1 at Pierz (7:30 p.m.).

Alive in the 5A West are Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa (23-7), Bertha-Hewitt, Sebeka and Upsalaa (25-5). The Section 5A finals will be Saturday, Nov. 3 back at Pierz.

Section 7AAA: Anoka 3, Cambridge-Isanti 1

Bluejacket Volleyball’s season came to a close at the hands of 7AAA No. 1 seed Anoka in the Oct. 26 quarterfinals: 25-20, 25-22, 20-25, 25-20. Cambridge-Isanti finishes the 2012 season with a 15-13 overall record.

The Tornadoes host No. 4 North Branch in the Oct. 30 semifinals. Also alive are No. 2 Elk River hosting No. 3 St. Francis. The Section 7AAA championship will be Saturday, Nov. 3 at Duluth Denfeld.
