Football Playoffs: Bemidji blanks Bluejackets, Braham falls to Hilltoppers

Visiting Bemidji shutout Cambridge-Isanti 21-0 in the Section 7AAAAA semifinals the afternoon of Oct. 27. The Lumberjacks, who stopped the Bluejackets five times on 4th down plays, advance to play at top-seed Chisago Lakes in the Nov. 2 section championship. The Wildcats humbled St. Francis 49-7.

Bemidji took a 14-0 lead into halftime after following an interception at midfield with a scoring drive, capped by QB James Hendricks’ 13-yard touchdown run. The ‘Jacks stopped C-I on downs, then rolled back downfield for 65 yards, with Tanner Boes banging in from 10-yards out with 1:35 left in the half.

The Lumberjacks added a clinching touchdown with 3:50 to play in the game by rolling 59 yards, with Brady Schmidt scoring from a yard out. Bemidji compiled 315 total yards to the Bluejackets 201.

Duluth Marshall 47, Braham 22

Braham’s 2012 season came to a close in the Section 7AA semifinals when Duluth Marshall displayed a strong running game in the home victory. The Hilltoppers will take on defending-champ Moose Lake-Willow River in the Nov. 2 section finals at Duluth Public Stadium. The Rebels rolled past Eveleth-Gilberrt 61-13 in the other semifinals.
