Rallying from a 2-1 game deficit, Cambridge-Isanti Volleyball defeated visiting Grand Rapids in the Oct. 24 opening round of the Section 7AAA tourney: 25-21, 16-25, 18-25, 25-18, 15-13. The victory advances the No. 8 seed Bluejackets (15-12) to a 7 p.m. Oct. 26 quarterfinal match at top-seed Anoka (20-7).
In the tight Game 5 against the hard-digging & accurate serving Thunderhawks, Bluejacket kills came from Kylie Baas, Claire Sheehan (3), Greta Holt, Emily Sorgert (3), and Alexis Landherr (3).
More 7AAA quarterfinal matchups for Oct. 26: No. 4 North Branch vs. No. 5 Andover (3-0 over Princeton); No. 2 Elk River vs. No. 7 Duluth East (3-0 over Chi. Lakes) and No. 3 St. Francis vs. No. 6 Forest Lake (3-0 over Dul. Denfeld).
The 7AAA semifinals will be Tuesday, Oct. 30 at the high surviving seeds.
