Warrior Soccer closes regular season at 17-0

Cambridge Christian soccer maintained its undefeated goal by shutting out two more foes last week, raising the team’s record to 17-0 this autumn. The Warriors will  go into the Oct. 26-27 Christian Athletic League tourney as the No. 1 seed, opening play on Friday at Valley Christian in defense of their 2011 title.

On Oct. 12, the Warriors defeated Hope Christian 2-0. Anders Boyum and Syfah Doble scored first-half goals in the win.

CCS made it four shutous in a row when they beat Valley Christian 4-0 Oct. 16. Josh Roble scored his league-high 19th goal of the season in the 25th minute on a beautiful assist from David Fryc. Boyum, second in the league to Roble with 17 goals, sandwiched two netters around a Jack Swenson header to complete the scoring.

CAL Soccer: Cambridge Christian 5-0, 17-0; Valley Christian 2-2, 5-4; Immanuel Lutheran 1-2; Christian Life 0-4, 1-7.

CCS Volleyball wins four straight

Warrior volleyball closed the regular season with four straight wins to head into the Oct. 26-27 CAL tourney on a strong note. On Oct. 11, Cambridge Christian defeated host Foreston 25-19, 25-11, 25-15.  Caitlin Walburg served up 17 points with her excellent place serving. Karly Wiek was just behind with 15 points. Wiek also led the Warrior offense, playing aggressively on the net with 7 kills and 3 blocks.  Kim Walburg had 10 assists.

CCS then posted straight-set wins over Hope (25-13, 25-14-, 25-12), Spectrum (25-19, 25-11, 25-2) and Valley (25-14, 25-19, 25-8).
