Jacket V-ball wraps up season with 14 victories

Cambridge-Isanti wrapped up the 2012 regular season with a 3-2 victory at Rogers Oct. 16. Next comes the Section 7AAA tourney.

The Bluejackets, with their 14-12 overall record, were seeded No. 8 and will host No. 9 Grand Rapids in the Oct. 24 play-in round (7 p.m.). The winner will travel to No. 1 Anoka on Oct. 26.

Also in C-I’s half of the brackets is No. 4 North Branch. In the other half, Elk River is the No. 2 seed and St. Francis is No. 3.

On Oct. 11, host St. Michael-Albertville beat C-I in three: 25-13, 25-23, 25-18. The Knights grasped a share of the Mississippi 8 title when they defeated Buffalo 3-1 on Oct. 16.

• The Bluejackets went 1-3 while struggling with serve receive over the weekend at the Apple Valley Invite. They lost to the host Eagles 25-23, 25-22 in the opener, then followed with a 25-18, 25-17 win over Zumbrota. On Saturday, C-I fell 25-13, 25-22 to Minneota and 19-25, 25-23, 15-12 to Maple Grove.
