C-I Football crunches Hornets

Visiting Big Lake took the opening 6-0 lead, but it was all Cambridge-Isanti afterward when the Bluejackets won 42-6 on “Senior Night” at Larson Field Oct. 12.

Chance Laidly scored on rushing touchdowns of 40, 23, 2 and 1 in the Mississippi 8 rout. The Jackets led 28-6 at the half and out-rushed the Hornets 377-89.

The Bluejackets next travel to Rogers to decide the M-8 Football crown on Wednesday, Oct. 17.

Cook Co. 42, Braham 6

The host Vikings led 22-6 at the half, then pulled away from Braham in the team’s first GPFA conference meeting. Sam Stigen scored the Bombers’ lone TD on a 1-yard run late in the second quarter. Cook Co. (Grand Marais) out-gained Braham on the ground 386-25.

Braham wraps up the GPFA regular season with a home game against Ogilvie Oct. 17.
