Warrior Soccer wings Hawks

Cambridge Christian soccer improved to 15-0 with two victories this past week. On Oct. 5, the Warriors won 6-0 at Christian Life in a windy, cold game. Syfah Doble got the scoring going when he banged home a goal in the first minute. Josh Roble netted the next two as he continued his hot scoring streak. Anders Boyum, David Fryc and Peter Maring added solo goals. Assists came from Roble, Fryc, and Jack Swenson.

On Oct. 9, the Warriors swept Foreston with a 5-2 road win. They took a 3-0 first-half lead on goals from Maring, Miah Wichman and Jordan Roble. Fryc and Bill Enos netted shots to build a 5-0 edge in the second half. The Warriors are now 5-0 in CAL games and host their final home game Oct. 16 against Valley.

C-I Cross Country Boys 5th at Litchfield

Posting a decent spread of 57 seconds between their top five runners, the Bluejacket boys placed 5th at the Oct. 4 Litchfield Invite which featured good central-Minnesota squads. Dylan Korta (16th, 17:47) again led the way. He was followed by Darren Codner (19th, 17:58), Patrick Jones (26th, 18:13), Tyler Magnuson (38th, 18:39), Andrew Fosse (40th, 18:44), Nate Wallman (46th, 18:52) and Stuart Yurczyk (54th, 19:09).

Orono and Hutchinson finished a close 1st-2nd in the boys division, and the Annandale girls were separated by 36 points over Albany to win the their division.

The Bluejacket girls placed 9th with Paige Muehlhauser leading (23rd, 17:13). Running C-I varsity behind her were: Maddie Oullette (39th, 17:55), Taylor Oullette (43rd, 18:01), Ashley Winselman (45th, 18:12), Amy Head (46th, 18:12), Kylie Guimont (49th, 18:19) and Shelby Swanson (55th, 18:36).

The Bluejackets next travel to the Mississippi 8 finals at St. Michael Oct. 11.

Braham Cross Country at Blaine Invite

The Braham girls finished 9th in the ‘White’ division at the Oct. 4 Blaine Invite where St. Francis and Minneapolis Washburn finished in the top two spots. Leading the Bombers were Rachel Eskuri (14th, 17:14), Jessica Westman (38th, 18:49) and Jenna Winter (46th, 20:02). Thomas Warner (20th, 18:52) led the Braham boys, along with Cody Anderson (62nd, 20:58).

The GRC Finals will be hosted Oct. 11 at Pine City.

Owls hockey wins at road showcase

The Minnesota Owls travelled to Pleasant Prairie Wisconsin this past weekend to participate in a hockey showcase with the Great Lakes Division of the Minnesota Junior Hockey League. The Owls opened with a 9-4 win over the Wooster Oilers, then defeated the Chicago Jr. Bulldogs 5-3. On Saturday, the Owls won a hard-hitting affair 5-2 over the host Wisconsin Rampage.  Their final game was a quick turnaround Sunday morning against the St. Louis Frontenacs where Minnesota won 4-1, improving to 5-2 on the season.
