Ribbon-cutting celebrates opening of Legacy Park in Isanti

The city of Isanti hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday, Oct. 2, to celebrate the opening of Legacy Park. Adults pictured, from left, are City Council Member Steve Lundeen, Isanti Area Chamber of Commerce Board Member Danna Demo, Isanti Area Chamber of Commerce President Tracy Neifert, Isanti Planning and Parks Director Lisa Wilson, Isanti Parks and Recreation Board Member Kimberly Horst, Bolton & Menk Engineer Jason Cook, Isanti Mayor George Wimmer and Isanti Economic Development Director Sean Sullivan. The pedestrian trail is made from crushed limestone, and Mayor Wimmer said the city plans to install picnic tables in various spots throughout the park. The total project cost is not to exceed $113,000, paid for by Park and Recreation Department dedication funds, he said. There will be signs posted not only about the flora and fauna, but also about the history of the area, including information about Native American artifacts. The Legacy Park trail can be accessed just north of Bellaire Boulevard NW and Blossom Boulevard NW. Photo by Elizabeth Sias
