Faithfully Fit Forever, a senior aerobics program for men and women, began Sept. 21 at 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Cambridge Lutheran Church located at 621 Old N. Main Street.
Why offer Faithfully Fit Forever? Most people 60 years or older can benefit greatly from exercise. Older adults are more vulnerable to cardio-skeletal disease and may benefit from such a program. The class is especially designed for seniors, however a wide range of ages will benefit as well.
Faithfully Fit Forever (FFF) is affordable at no cost to the participant.
FFF is held in a church setting. Why? It offers a safe environment, nurtures feelings of belonging, offers comfort, support and togetherness. Attendees are comfortable discussing health issues. Cambridge Lutheran Church can accommodate large groups, has handicap access, convenient parking, and is in a choice location. Restrooms and fountains are nearby. The Fellowship Hall is temperature controlled.
The major goal of FFF is to promote regular physical activity and health education to all seniors. The leader is allowed to tailor the class format to fit the participants. More than one leader may be used in a class session.
Class format: 5-10 minutes warm-up, 20 minutes aerobic exercise, some low impact, some in chairs, 10 minutes strength training, 5-10 minutes cool down, devotional topic closing.
