Fredrick C. Hertwig

Fredrick Claus Hertwig, 76, of Cambridge died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at his home.

Fred was born on June 25, 1936 to Fred and Ida (Kalpin) Hertwig in Miltona Township, Minnesota.

On Feb. 15, 1963 he was united in marriage to Nancy Torell at the Cambridge Lutheran Church. They lived in Minneapolis and Rogers before moving to Walbo in 1973 where they raised their two daughters.

Fred worked as a heavy equipment operator for Sylvester Brothers at the landfill in East Bethel and retired from there.

Fredrick is survived by his daughters; Tammy (Randy) Froemming of Battle Lake, Minn., Kim Hertwig (Doyle Swift) of Grantsburg, Wis., granddaughter; Nicole Swift of Grantsburg, Wis., sisters; Bernice Froemming of Plainview, Minn., Florence Froemming of Hibbing, Minn., Luetta Thompson of Miltona, Minn., Marie Smith of Minneapolis, Ina (Chuck) Joachim of Miltona, Minn., one brother; Marvin Hertwig of Miltona, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Ida Hertwig; wife, Nancy Hertwig; and sister, Doris Barten of Carlos, Minn.

A Memorial Service was held Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Joy Lutheran Church in Cambridge with Rev. Wendell Johnson officiating.  Special music was provided by Wendell and Laurel Johnson, organist was Judy Lundeen. Interment was in the Cambridge Union Cemetery.  Arrangements were with the Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Cambridge.
