Plans are underway for the 16th Annual Lighted Snowflake Parade in Cambridge, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. Local businesses and organizations wishing to participate can find an application, waiver, and line-up area map at www.cambridge-chamber.com (navigate to the November Events Calendar) or request the documents by e-mail at email@example.com.
We are accepting the first 80 entries to keep the parade length at about one hour. The majority of the entries will come from out-of-town royalty/ambassador programs who will brighten up our parade with spectacular lighting and music. Did you know that many of these fine young people and their chaperones will come early to spread some holiday cheer at five of our local senior homes before setting up their floats for the parade? As a thank you for making the trip to our town, we treat the visiting ambassadors to a bowl of Captain Ken’s Chili at the Community Chili Feed at the American Legion following the parade, where the public is also welcome to buy a bowl for just $3 to help with the expenses involved in putting on the events of the day.
Last year we received great support when we asked for an optional $10 entry fee to help defray the cost of running the parade and purchasing the chili, along with several generous donations from local folks who love “our own little Holidazzle” parade and wanted to help us keep it going.
If you would like to support this year’s festivities, your tax deductible donation made out to “Snowflake Parade” can be sent to: Laurie Solle, 28626 Drake St. NW, Isanti, MN 55040.
We are a small committee of three women, so if you or your group would love to help out at the parade line-up or chili feed, we would really like to hear from you.
