C-I Swim/Dive 4th at Hibbing Invite

Heading north for their annual trip to the Hibbing Invitational, the Cambridge-Isanti girls swim & dive team finished in 4th place last Saturday.

“Another fun trip up to Hibbing – lots of great performances for our girls,” noted C-I Coach Jen Olson.

Katie Beauto scored the Bluejackets’ lone win when she placed 1st in the 100 Backstroke at 1:07:3. More points in that event came from Ashley Hiljus (5th), Alice Zenatti (6th) and Anna Sunderman (7th).

The Jacket divers also amassed nice points with Hannah Thiry (3rd), Maria Leibel (4th) and Taylor Weeks (6th) working off the board.

200 Medley Relay (Beauto,  Ashley Hiljus, Carly Dupre  Brooke Olson)– 4th  2:07.22:

50 Free– Maria Vavra 6th, Olson 9th, Nicole Peterson 10th; 100 Butterfly– Hiljus 5th  1:10.5; 200 Free Relay (Vavra, Aliina Knickerbocker, Dupre, Mackenzie Boyson) 4th   1:54.1; 100 Breaststroke– Dupre 5th 1:18.7; 400 Free Relay (Olson, Knickerbocker, Vavra, Boyson) 5th   4:10.7.

• Bluejacket swim & dive is currently 2-2 in overall dual meets for the 2012 season. Last week, Andover took a 98-89 non-conference meet at the CIHS pool on Sept. 11. St. Michael-Albertville then opened the Mississippi 8 dual season by downing visiting C-I 105-76 Sept. 13.

The Bluejackets bounced back by defeating visiting Becker 94-84 in non-conference competition Sept. 18.

C-I’s next two meets are conference battles with Buffalo at home Sept. 20 and at M-8 leader Monticello Sept. 27.
