Bomber Football beats Eagles; Giants invade for Homecoming

Braham improved to 2-0 in the Great Polar Football Alliance Red Division by defeating host East Central 21-11 Sept. 14.

The Eagles drove on the opening possession to the Braham 7 yard line before stalling and settling for a 27-yard field goal to begin the scoring. On EC’s next series, Bomber d-back Casey Grell picked off a pass which set up his team’s first score, a 2-yard touchdown pass from John Larson to Shaun Hollenkamp.

Late in the second quarter, the Bombers finished off an 80-yard drive with Larson sprinting to pay dirt from 17 yards out, pushing Braham ahead 14-3 at the break.

Braham began the second half by moving the ball 69 yards on a 3:30 minute drive, with Grell scoring on a 19-yard sweep for a 21-3 edge.

The Braham defense, led by Alex Sutton’s 15.5 tackles (2.5 for loss), stopped the Eagles on downs over their next two possessions. EC’s final score came on a 14-yard pass with 5 seconds left in the game.

Next up: Braham’s Homecoming game with Mesabi East Sept. 21. Stopping the Giants’ running attack is No. 1 on Coach Kuhnke’s list for his Bombers.
