Josephine “Jo” Tool
Jo was born May 7, 1923 in Wilton, N.D. to parents Axel and Hannah (Olson) Hedberg. She attended country school in North Dakota. In 1941, Jo moved to Minnesota to help a friend there.
On Sept. 19, 1942, Jo married Darell Tool at the Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church. Jo and Darell lived their entire life on the family farm in rural Braham until moving to Cambridge in 2000. Jo lived at Dellwood Manor in Cambridge until moving into the nursing home in 2011.
Jo was a homemaker and mother of two daughters, Colleen and Darla. During the 1970s, she worked at the Cheese Factory in Dalbo.
Jo was active in the Siloa Lutheran Church, the Women of the ELCA, and the Homemaker’s Club. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and spending time with her grandkids. Jo loved to socialize, especially during meals at the Cambridge Senior Center and while living at Dellwood Manor. Jo was always ready for a picnic, whether making a special trip up to a park in Mora or right outside her apartment in Cambridge at a picnic table. Every Christmas, Jo put together a special dinner for her family.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darell; daughter, Darla Ritenour; one brother and four sisters.
She is survived by daughter, Colleen (Gary) Gallmeier; sister, Helen Knott; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral Service was held Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Siloa Lutheran Church in Braham with Rev. Dale Schanidt officiating. Music was provided by the Siloa Creek Singers. Casket Bearers were: Gary Hoffbeck, Garrison Hoffbeck, Todd Roth, Sadie Roth, Lloyd Nelson, and Joe Nelson. Honorary Casket Bearers were Tanner Roth and Jackson Hoffbeck. Interment was at North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Braham. Arrangements made by Rock-Ingebrand Funeral Home.
