Bombers blank Warriors in football

Braham won its Great Polar Football Alliance Red Division opener by shutting down visiting Deer River 18-0 Sept. 7.

The Bombers were held off the scoreboard by the Warriors in the first half by an interception, stopping Braham on downs and forcing two punts. Late in the half, the Bomber defense got the ball back by holding Deer River on downs at the Braham 13.

With 36 seconds left, freshman quarterback John Larson connected on an 83-yard TD pass to Shaun Hollenkamp to break up the shut out. In the third quarter, Zach Dahlman hauled in a 44-yard scoring pass. Larson added a 19-yard TD run with 8:26 to play, and the Bomber defense held down the Warriors the rest of the way.

Next up: Braham travels to East Central for a Sept. 14 GPFA Red matchup. The Eagles beat Mesabi East 29-6 last week.
