Karmel Covenant Church and Family Pathways clients enjoy afternoon buggy ride together
Participants of Family Pathways Social Respite Gatherings enjoyed horse and buggy rides provided by local residents, Harold and Anna Anderson.
Harold and Anna have provided horse and buggy rides for the Karmel congregation for years, and on Aug. 21 Gathering participants enjoyed the same treat. Gathering participants are older adults, age 60 and over, who are living independently and have a full-time caregiver.
Karmel Covenant Church has partnered with Family Pathways over the last four years to host social respite Gatherings. Senior citizens attend structured social time and their caregivers get some much needed respite from the demands and stresses of full-time caregiving.
The Gatherings are held twice monthly in several communities: Braham, Dalbo, Lindstrom and Pine City. These Gatherings are provided at no-charge to clients who are 60 years or older, living independently and who have a full-time caregiver.
Adolph who has been attending the Gathering for many years said, “it was the trip of a lifetime.” And, Doris, also a long time attendee, said, “what an experience and I loved it; it made my day.” These rides brought back many memories and sparked a lot of reminiscing.
