Faith Lutheran thanks Gayla Bone for 24 years of service

For over two decades Gayla Bone’s face and name have been among the first things that come to mind when someone mentions Faith Lutheran Church in Isanti.

Sadly, all good things do come to an end, and on Sept. 1 of this year, Gayla’s time as Faith’s Youth & Christian Education Director officially ended. She will, however, continue as the Director of Heavenly Sunshine Nursery School, a ministry of Faith.

On Rally Sunday, Sept. 9, Faith Lutheran will say a big, collective “thanks” to Gayla for her many years of faithful service to the children and youth of this place.

Gayla came to Faith Lutheran Church in 1988 to apply for a position as the custodian. She got the job and served in that capacity until 1991 when the church found itself in need of Christian Education Director. She was hired and entrusted with the spiritual care and instruction of Faith’s Sunday school children. A couple of years later the word “Youth” was added to her title, and with that one little word the church’s confirmation and high school programs. In 2003 she became the Director of Heavenly Sunshine Nursery School and has served in both positions ever since.

In her letter to the congregation she explained that “I feel that I can better serve Heavenly Sunshine Nursery School, students and families, if I can solely focus on them.” In that same letter she went on to say, “It has been my honor to work, through Christ, with the youth and families here at Faith Lutheran Church.”

Please join Faith Lutheran Church during its 9 a.m. service this Sunday, Sept. 9, as they say, “well done, good and faithful servant” to one who has meant so much to their church. After service they will enjoy some “retirement” cake amidst the other festivities of the day.
