The Bluejackets enjoyed a fun home match against Section 7AA partner Princeton on Aug. 30. The Doubles pairings of Nikki Hallstrom & Jade Newman at 1st, Madi Booth & Ellie Osborne at 2nd, and Beth Hanson & Emily Baker at 3rd swept their matches while taking six-of-seven sets.

At 2nd Singles, Erika Schmieg pulled off a good rally to take set three 6-2. Kate Hanson, another varsity singles returner, from last season worked through a 7-4 tie-break in set two to help clinch the team victory. Princeton got wins from tough MaryClaire Mayerchak at 1st Singles and Bri Dorr at 3rd Singles.

Coach Lee Orvik: “This was a good team win. I was especially pleased with the performance of Erika Schmieg at 2nd Singles. After losing the first set, she become both more focused and more patient, and she pulled out an excellent three-set win against a strong competitor. We swept the Doubles, looking confident in every match. Princeton’s Singles lineup is very tough. Our team depth was an important factor in this win.”
