A new tack shop is opening in Braham during Labor Day weekend.
Patti’s Trading Post will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, Sept. 1, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Owners Patti and Tony Anderson will serve coffee and cookies, and kids will get a cowboy hat until they run out.
“Braham is a busy town,” Patti said. “It’s kind of a central location for people to get their tack. After other tack stores closed, this will be a great location for it.”
She said horses have always been a part of their lives, so having a tack store is a dream of hers. The shop will mostly sell horse tack—saddles, bridles, bits and more—but they’ll also have thrift items such as clothing and household goods with a horse theme.
Tony and Patti offered a “sneak peak” of Patti’s Trading Post during Braham Pie Day on Aug. 3. They used it as an opportunity to hand out flyers about the store’s opening.
“We did a little bit of business that day, but we’ve had a lot of interest in the meantime,” Patti said.
Her goal down the road is to be open seven days a week and add a Western wedding section. For now, she and Tony are anxious to start this venture.
“We’re really excited to be able to do this and give it a shot. We’re hoping the public response to what we’re doing is positive,” Patti said. “This weekend, I’m looking forward to a whole bunch of people coming in and having people excited that we’re there.”
After the grand opening on Saturday, regular business hours will be Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
