Born in Braham, Minn. and raised in Stanchfield, Minn., he grew up working in the family business, the Peterson Store in Braham. Wayne was passionate about music and sports, participating in both at Braham High School, Bethel College, Augsburg College and several BGC churches. Wayne served in the U.S. Army, playing in the Army band after World War II. His longtime career with Control Data Corporation took him and his family from Crystal, Minn. to New York, Ohio, Michigan, and then back to Minneapolis. After retirement from CDC he worked at the Computer Center in Cambridge, as well as volunteering at First Baptist Church and Realife/East Terrace Co-Op. He was greatly appreciated by those who knew him and will be deeply missed.
Wayne was preceded in death (on July 25, 2012) by his loving wife of 61 years Elaine (Raymetz) Peterson, parents Albert and Mabel Peterson, brother DelRay Peterson, and sister Marlette (Tootie) Peterson. He is survived by his children Keith (Julie) Peterson of Cambridge, Dale (Sarah) Peterson of Chanhassen, Tedd Peterson of Rockford, Minn. (and Gretchen Lieb), Sara (Ronn) Kreps of Minneapolis; grandchildren Kyle (Kari) Peterson, Rachel (Matt) Karel, Sam and Grace Peterson, Mary, Suzanne and Ryken Kreps; great-grandchildren Aaron and Brynna Peterson, and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial service was held Sunday, August 26, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Cambridge.
