Hazel Eerdmans was born April 10, 1921 near Pease, Minn. to Klaas and Minnie (Kooistra) Zuidema. She was raised and attended school near Pease. On May 25, 1938 Hazel was united in marriage to Ted E. Eerdmans in Pease. They made their home near Milaca. In 1957 they moved to Cambridge. Hazel was known for her beautiful flower gardens and for her baking. She loved dogs and ‘Charlie’ was her constant companion for the last several years. Hazel especially enjoyed having coffee time with her family and friends. She was a selfless person, putting others first, she genuinely cared for them. Her friends said she was a very good listener. Hazel was also a prayer warrior, faithfully remembering the people she loved.
Hazel will be lovingly remembered by her son, Robert (Ann) Eerdmans of Isanti; three daughters, Marilyn (George) Ryon of Blaine, Mary Manselle of Cambridge, and Beth Ann (Nathan) Dietsche of Altoona, Wisconsin; daughter-in-law, Nancy Eerdmans of Preston; 8 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 6 step great-grandchildren, and by many other relatives and friends. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; son, Ted Jr.; brother, Pete; and four sisters, Alice, Jennie, Bessie and Sue.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel with Rev. Ned Eerdmans and Pastor Tom Porta officiating. Lois Roelofs and Rev. Ned Eerdmans served as musicians. Pallbearers were Nathan Dietsche, Bob Eerdmans, Jill Eerdmans, Neil Eerdmans, Pastor Tom Porta and George Ryon. Interment was in Pease Cemetery.
