His word is our guide

Dear Editor:

“But in early democracies, like America at the time of its inception, all human rights were granted because man is God’s creature…What has occurred is a total liberation from the moral heritage of Christian centuries, with their great reserves of mercy and sacrifice…The West has succeeded in truly enforcing human rights, but our sense of responsibility to God and society has grown dimmer and dimmer.”

Alexander Solzhenitsyn
Excerpt from Harvard Commencement Address
June 8, 1978

How is it that a man from a Communist country can look into ours and place his hand directly on its pulse? Our country is at a crossroad. Are we growing in wisdom and maturity or selfishness and hard heartedness? It is time to look deep inside and return to our first love, the values of God and His Son Jesus Christ, the perfection of sacrifice and mercy. His Word is our guide.
