First 2B playoff game is Aug. 4: Isanti takes an 11-game win streak into the playoffs after finishing off the regular season with three more victories last week. The Redbirds enter the Region 2B tournament as the No. 1 seed, with their first game on Saturday, Aug. 4 in Forest Lake.

Joe Ramberg allowed just one run through eight innings, striking out 11. Reliever Justin Krie gave up one run in the ninth. Jake Maros stroked his ninth homer during a 4-for-5 night. Wyatt Soderquist supplied three hits, B.J. Samuelson scored three runs on two hits, and Eric Rysdam finished with four RBI on two hits.
On Saturday, Isanti hammered host Hamel 16-2 in the final Metro Minny game. Dallas Nelson (4 inn./5 K) and Troy Heifort (3 inn./3 K) handled the pitching duties against the Hawks. Driving in two runs each were Rysdam, Tyler Schaff, Kyle Johnson and Jake Johnson.
The Redbirds’ final tune-up game for the playoffs was a 2-0 non-league win over St. Michael at home on Sunday. Krie earned the win by throwing three-hit ball over six innings. Adam West got the save by allowing just one hit over the final three stanzas. Soderquist tripled and Rysdam doubled to highlight the offense.
• The six-team Class 2B Section Tournament will be held in Forest Lake Aug. 3-5 and Aug. 11-12. The Redbirds will play the winner between No. 4 Big Lake and No. 5 Champlin on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
