Verna Eleanor Johnson

Verna Eleanor Johnson, 94, of Stanchfield, passed away July 19, 2012 at her home in Maple Ridge Township, Isanti County, Minnesota.

Verna was born March 14, 1918 in Minneapolis to Martin and Thekla (Skoglund) Hanson. She was the fifth of seven siblings. She attended school in Minneapolis and graduated from Edison High School in 1936. She married Arthur Johnson on June 14, 1947 in Minneapolis. To this union four children were born. They lived in Minneapolis until 1951 when they moved to the farm in Maple Ridge. Verna was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church. Verna was a homemaker and she enjoyed crocheting, counted cross stitch, her violets and walking in the woods. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur, her parents, brothers Vader, Leonard, Wallace and Robert, and sisters Dorothy and Audrey.

Verna is survived by her children, Carole (Richard) Kiel of Milaca, Merlin (Sheryl) of Stanchfield, Randy (Deanne) of Cambridge, and Mark (Shawn) of Mora; grandchildren, Garrit Kiel, Jessica (John Kidd), David Kiel, Jamison, Jodi (Travis) Moske, Stacy (Andrew) Ryle, Jesse (Kristy), Tyler (Sarah Pignato), Keith, Jerik, Alaina, Nathan, Andrew, and Matthew; great grandchildren Haley, Braden, Bailey, Brenna, and JaeLee Johnson, Kiara, Kiya, and Ajay Moske, Paeton and Andi Ryle; and sister-in-law Harriet Sura of Coon Rapids; many other relatives and friends.

Services were held Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Salem Lutheran Church in Dalbo. Arrangements are by Rock-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Braham.
