Seton Fest Aug. 5 features polka mass

St. Elizabeth’s Church in Isanti has scheduled its 18th annual Seton Fest for Sunday, Aug. 5, starting with a polka mass at 10:30 a.m., featuring the famous Singing Slovenes, who will also perform outdoors after the opening service.

A pork dinner starts at 11:30 a.m. and will include pork chops, garlic mashed potatoes and gravy, coleslaw, rolls, beverage and desert. Other food available includes hamburgers, brats, French fries, hotdogs and more.

The festival includes children’s games, bingo, a silent auction, country store, a cake walk, live dance music, and a limited-ticket drawing for seven cash prizes: a $600 first, $400 second, $300 third, $200 fourth and three $100 prizes. Only 1,000 tickets will be sold.

The Singing Slovenes dress in colorful native costumes and their presentation includes historical and modern music and information about Slovanian heritage.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church is located in Isanti on County Rds. 5 and 23. This year’s festival will also feature the parish’s new building addition, which is nearing completion.
