Home Stretch homebuyer workshop now offered
You have the opportunity to free yourself from some of the complications and stress of buying a home by participating in a Home Stretch Workshop offered by Central Minnesota Housing Partnership.
Home Stretch is a first-time homebuyer workshop that will be held in Cambridge on Friday, Aug. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Minnco Credit Union Center. Registration is required by Aug. 9, and participants will receive a completion certificate at the end of the day.
“This is a remarkable time to be a homebuyer, and Home Stretch will be able to provide the much needed information a first-time homebuyer should know before beginning the process,” said Kelly Doss, Program Coordinator at Central Minnesota Housing Partnership. “We want participants to be educated and successful buyers, so we have local housing professionals as instructors to answer questions and provide the most current information about the home buying process.”
In one day, you will learn about qualifying for a mortgage, financing a home, budget and credit issues, real estate, the closing process, basic home maintenance and affordable mortgage products that may be available to first-time homebuyers. Some affordable mortgage products, first-time homebuyer products, and government loans may require a buyer to receive a Home Stretch certificate.
Pre-purchase counseling is also available by appointment and is strongly suggested prior to taking Home Stretch. This is a free service to anyone who wants to speak with a certified homeownership counselor about their financial situation before buying a home.
Central Minnesota Housing Partnership, a non-profit organization providing affordable housing services to the central region of Minnesota, coordinates the Home Stretch workshop. Community lenders, Realtors, and other housing professionals volunteer their time to bring first-time homebuyers the most important and current information about the home buying process.
There is a $30 fee per household to participate in Home Stretch and registration is required. To register for the Cambridge Home Stretch workshop you can download an application at www.cmhp.net, or you may contact Kelly Doss, Program Coordinator, 320-259-0393 or email@example.com.
