Lester Kallis

Lester Kallis, 71, of East Bethel died July 15, 2012 at Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming.

Lester Arlyn Kallis was born May 25, 1941 in Mott, N.D. to Jacob and Katherine (Okken) Kallis. He was raised in Mott and graduated from Mott High School, Class of 1959. Lester served in the Army from 1959 – 1962. After his military service he came back to Mott where he lived until moving to Minneapolis in 1967. On Oct. 23, 1968 he married Viola Ramminger and they made their home in St. Paul. In 1976 they moved to East Bethel. Lester was a member of First Baptist Church in Cambridge. Lester worked for UPS for 32 years, retiring in 1998. He also enjoyed hobby farming.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by an infant brother; his brother, Walter; and sister-in-law, Lorene Ebert-Kallis. Lester is survived by his wife, Viola of East Bethel; sister, Mable (Willard) Auch of Coon Rapids, 2 brothers, Harold (Annetta) Kallis of Tuttle, N.D., Alfred Kallis of Mott, N.D.; mother-in-law, Matilda Ramminger of Cornell, Wis.; sister-in-law, Darlene Kallis of Mott, N.D.; and by many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Cambridge with Rev. Earl Lassen officiating. The soloist will be Sandy Galligan and Carlota Lund will serve as pianist. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel.
