A crash occurred at 12:23 p.m. Monday, July 9, at the intersection of Hwy. 95 and Vickers Street NE, just east of Cambridge.

A Ford Taurus and a semi-truck were both traveling westbound on Hwy. 95, according to the accident report. The driver of the semi, Steven Joseph Pass, 34, of Stanchfield, was making a right turn onto northbound Vickers Street NE with his turn signal on.

The driver of the car, Nicholas Tyler Shoemaker, 18, of North Branch, said he thought the semi was making a left turn and attempted to pass on the right, doing so illegally in the right turn only lane, which is not a bypass lane.

The Ford Taurus struck the semi in the right passenger side fuel tank. The driver of the car received minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. No apparent injuries were reported to the driver of the semi.

Both vehicles were towed and the Ford Taurus was a total loss, according to Isanti County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Chris Caulk. The right side tractor portion of the semi sustained heavy damage.
