Armed man shot at a disturbance call in North Branch

In North Branch, on the evening of July 8, a man was shot by a law enforcement officer and was later pronounced dead at a Twin Cities hospital.

Around 9:22 Sunday night, North Branch Police Officers were dispatched to 38090 Feaski Circle on a disturbance. As the officers were responding, it was reported that a male was inside of the residence armed with a firearm.

When the officers arrived, according to the press release from the North Branch Police Department, they were advised that the man possibly discharged the weapon prior to their arrival.

The NB officers were joined by deputies with the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office. At the residence, law enforcement officers were confronted by an armed individual and a county deputy shot the individual.

Police Chief Dan Meyer reported that the male was treated at the scene by law enforcement officers and Lakes Region EMS. He was airlifted to Regions Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Assisting with the incident were officers from the Isanti Police Department, Wyoming Police Department and deputies with the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office.

More details will be reported as they become available. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation.
