The Post #290 squad raised its league record to 6-0 with a pair of home victories over Milaca. On June 21 the Legion stayed resilient in a 11-10 victory after giving away an early 6-0 lead.

Austin Karpen started on the mound, allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits over the first 3.3 innings. Reliever Kevin Johnson was touched for 4 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits, then Matt Ziebarth won the game in relief by giving up 1 hit and 4 walks over the final 2.3 innings.

Cambridge lost the lead in the top of the seventh when Milaca scored two. However, Post #290 never gave up, noted Coach Wade Reichmann.

With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Skog reached on an error, and Ryan Miller doubled down the left field line. Ziebarth (3 hits) singled to right, scoring Skog to tie the game and leaving runners at the corners. Pinch-hitter Nathan Barry then plated the winning run with a sacrifice fly to center field to score Miller.

Cambridge followed with a cleaner 2-0 win over Milaca as Jake Johnson threw 5 shutout innings, striking out 10. Miller got the save by allowing just 1 walk while striking out 3 over the last 2 innings.

Miller also scored the team’s two runs. In the first inning, he singled, moved to third on a throwing error by the pitcher, then scored on Luke McCracken’s sac fly. In the sixth, Miller singled again, and Ziebarth drove him in with another sac fly.
