Rum River improved to 8-3 in the Eastern Minny this amateur baseball season by winning two of its three games this past weekend.
The Bandits came away with a 5-4 victory at beautiful Brennan Field in Hinckley June 15. Lefty Kevin Auth pitched a complete game victory, allowing only 3 hits and striking out 13. Mike Koplitz and Jesse Jacobson (2BI) led the 8-hit attack with 2 each. Josh Coleman, Tyler Kronstedt, Dan Schoess and Tim Hale added hits on the night, and the Bandits played errorless ball.
On Sunday, Rum River split with host Nowthen 7-5 and 3-2. In the opener, Cole Willcoxen threw a complete game, allowing only 4 hits and 0 earned runs. Kronstedt and Eric Koplitz paced the attack with 2 hits each.
In Game 2, Kronstedt threw a gem for the Bandits, allowing only 1 earned run in 7.6 innings, striking out 14 Knights. Nowthen won it with the tying and winning runs scoring on a two-out error in the first extra inning. Dan Schoess led the Bandits with 3 hits, with Kronstedt knocking 2 more.
